Fluffy Pancakes with a Warm Chocolate Sauce

If you prefer light and fluffy pancakes, then this is the recipe for you. Whether you choose to use my warm chocolate sauce or you pick another delicious topping, either way, this is the perfect recipe for your Pancake Day treats!

Ingredients

Pancakes

  • 210g x Plain Flour
  • 1 ½ tsp x Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp x Salt
  • 3 tbsp x Caster Sugar
  • 200ml x Milk
  • 2 x Eggs
  • Butter (for cooking)

Chocolate Sauce

  • 75g x Caster Sugar
  • 200g x Dark Chocolate
  • 100ml x Double Cream
  • 25g x Butter
  • 50ml x Water

Ingredients

Pancakes

  • 210g x Plain Flour
  • 1 ½ tsp x Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp x Salt
  • 3 tbsp x Caster Sugar
  • 200ml x Milk
  • 2 x Eggs
  • Butter (for cooking)

Chocolate Sauce

  • 75g x Caster Sugar
  • 200g x Dark Chocolate
  • 100ml x Double Cream
  • 25g x Butter
  • 50ml x Water
  1. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar into a large mixing bowl and give it a brief mix together.

  2. Then add the milk and eggs.

  3. Beat the wet mix with a whisk for a few minutes. This will make a nice smooth batter.

  4. Now your batter is made, gently heat a non-stick frying pan with a knob of butter.

  5. Use a ladle to put a small amount of mix onto the pan. Depending on how big your pan is will determine how many pancakes you can cook at once.

    Remember the pancakes will expand so be sure to leave a little room around each of them. Alternatively, you can make a few bigger ones if you prefer!

  6. Cook until the mix bubbles on top slightly, then carefully flip it over. Then cook again until golden brown on each side and have risen to between 1-2cm.

  7. If you would like to make the chocolate sauce to top the pancakes, simply warm all of the ingredients together gently in a pan and continue to whisk slowly until a sauce has formed.
