Burrow Hill Cider
Burrow Hill Cider, also known as The Somerset Cider Brandy Company, is a family operated cidery based at Pass Vale Farm in Kingsbury Episcopi near Martock, Somerset. The Temperley family revived the farm’s ancient cider making roots, which stretch back over 300 years in the region. They focus on growing and pressing apples from their own organically maintained traditional orchards, then fermenting, distilling, maturing and bottling everything on site
In 1989 the company received the UK’s first full cider distilling licence in centuries, enabling them to legally produce Somerset cider brandy once more. In 2011 Somerset Cider Brandy was granted Protected Geographical Indication status, recognising its genuine heritage and giving it exclusive naming rights similar to Calvados in France
They still set aside half of their cider to distil into apple spirit which ages in oak casks for at least three years before bottling.
