The Great Cake Company

The Great Cake Company was founded in 2005 with a simple mission: to offer a delicious range of gluten-free cakes and snacks for customers across the Southwest. Our products are available in coffee shops, food emporiums, shops, farmers’ markets, events, and festivals, bringing the joy of gluten-free baking to a wide audience.

At the heart of our business is Debbie Hicks, a highly skilled pastry chef with over 30 years of experience in the catering industry. Before founding The Great Cake Company, Debbie honed her craft at some of London’s most prestigious hotels and artisan bakeries, including a position as a pastry chef at Harrods. Her expertise and passion for baking are reflected in every item we make.

The business is run by Debbie and her partner Chris, who share a deep commitment to the company’s original vision. Together, they have built a thriving business, with Chris handling deliveries and Debbie focusing on baking. As Chris puts it, “Between us, we deliver – Debbie bakes, and I deliver.” This seamless partnership allows them to meet the needs of their customers and ensure everything arrives in-store ready to delight.

Operating across a wide area of the Southwest, our vans can be spotted on the M5, from Worcester down to Taunton, and across to Bristol, Bath, and Bradford-on-Avon. We are always looking to expand our network of stockists, including cafés, deli counters, farm shops, and retail emporiums. Whether our cakes are a primary offering or a gluten-free supplement to in-house baking, we aim to make life easier for our clients with our high-quality products and reliable service.
