Miles Tea

Let’s introduce you to Miles, a name with a long history in the world of tea and coffee. We’ve been blending tea since 1888, so it’s safe to say we know a thing or two about creating the perfect brew. Our passion for tea and coffee runs deep, and we’re excited to share the Miles experience with you. After all, when it comes to making a great cup of tea, we’re the experts.

Our journey began in 1888 when Henry Miles founded Henry Miles & Co in Birmingham. The business quickly gained traction, but after being bombed during World War II, it moved to Sutton Coldfield. By the 1960s, Henry’s son Derek began crafting new tea blends in his home, leading to the creation of DJ Miles & Co. As demand grew, the company expanded and started roasting coffee in the 1980s.

In the 1990s, tea bags overtook loose leaf tea in popularity, prompting a move to a new facility in Minehead. Alongside this, our coffee shop opened in Porlock, adjacent to our roasting factory. Over the decades, Miles has continued to grow, but our commitment to quality and tradition remains unchanged.

Today, we’re proud to be known for our high-quality tea and coffee blends, sourced ethically and crafted with care. Our factory is located on the stunning Somerset coastline, offering breathtaking views and a relaxed atmosphere where we create our products with both modern techniques and traditional methods.

At Miles, we’re committed to responsible sourcing. As founding members of the Ethical Tea Partnership, we ensure our tea is sourced from plantations that prioritise workers’ rights, education, and clean water. We’re not just brewing tea and coffee—we’re brewing a better future, one cup at a time.
